I use Sketchup Pro 6 with Maxwell Render 1.7 Plug-in Version. Would I be able to use these with Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to easily collaborate with customers that have Adobe Reader 9?

If not, will this be offered at a later date?

    Thanks, Ben Mann, RDI

  • Hello Ben,

You can use the 3D Capture utility provided with Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to create a 3D PDF from a SketchUp file. I described this in my review of the previous version of Acrobat: see Figure 2 of http://www.aecbytes.com/review/2007/Acrobat3Dv8.html.

IFC support in acrobat is a most welcome addition, however your review doesn’t appear to point out that this a ‘windows only’ feature: Acrobat 9 Pro Extended is not available for Mac OSX.

A really clear, detailed review – thanks!

Ben – the IFC information (model tree) is viewable and interactive in Adobe Reader on the Mac. However the 3D conversion capabilities are PC only (for historical reasons relating to the Right Hemisphere software component, I heard)
