Autodesk Revit Structure 4, and the"Letterman
Digital Arts Center" Story
AECbytes starts this month with a Viewpoint
article by Patrick Aragon of Adobe Systems
Incorporated who talks about the challenges that
AEC professionals face in collaborating across
internal and external project teams, and shares
the results of a study conducted online in April
2006 by Harris Interactive for Adobe focused on
collaboration. He also discusses means to improve
project collaboration and document exchange, which
was a constant theme that emerged from this study.
Autodesk just announced the release of a new
version of Revit Structure as well as the acquisition
of France-based Robobat, a software provider for
structural engineering analysis, design and steel/concrete
detailing. We will take a detailed
look at Revit Structure 4, and discuss the
potential implications of the Robobat acquisition
for structural engineers using Revit Structure.
This month's Building the Future article is authored
by Mitch Boryslawski by View By View, who worked
extensively on implementing
BIM in the Letterman Digital Arts Center project
commissioned by LucasFilm Ltd. in San Francisco.
This article captures some of his insights and
experiences working on this highly involved and
complex project.
And finally, the offerings in the Tips and Tricks
section this month include a tutorial on solid
element operations in Archicad 10, and a tip
on how
to place a SketchUp model into Google Earth
and then change its location.
Thank you!
