Feature Packed Month with Two Viewpoints, New Products at AIA, Revit Technology Conference, and Trelligence Affinity

AECbytes has a packed publication schedule this month, starting with a Viewpoint by Viktor Várkonyi, CEO of Graphisoft, in which he discusses the implementation of “open” design collaboration workflows, which are in the best interest of all parties involved in an AEC project, given the plurality of their design tools and processes. He explores how BIM can bring the benefits that have been achieved by the individual design disciplines to interdisciplinary design collaboration as well, by providing a new level of transparency and integration of design processes for building projects of any type or size.

Next up is a detailed overview of the recent Revit Technology Conference (RTC), which has been held in Australia for the last six years and will be making its way to the US as well next year. The conference is a unique, independent "for users, by users" event covering BIM and workflows centered around Autodesk Revit. RTC offers unvarnished advice from the people who use the technologies to drive their businesses—and the industry as a whole—forward. It is focused on training and the exchange of ideas, and has established its reputation as having the best presenters, sourced worldwide, and the best content.

Following up on the technology-related highlights from the annual AIA Convention and Expo that were published last month, we will take a dedicated look at the new solutions unveiled at the show. Also on the agenda for the month is a Viewpoint by the CEO of IES, a detailed look at the space planning and programming application, Trelligence Affinity, as well as two new Tips and Tricks articles: one on the use of Excel and Newforma Project Center for lean design, and the other on using ArchiCAD for LEED design and certification.

As always, please continue to check out the AECbytes Blog for reader comments and the VendorHub to get a consolidated view of all the technology providers in AEC.

Thank you!
