Autodesk's 2012 Product Portfolio
Towards the end of last month, Autodesk hosted a webcast to officially launch the 2012 version of its product portfolio, similar to its webcast last year for its 2011 product portfolio. The most significant aspect of the 2012 release is the packaging of the individual applications into “suites” for different industries, designed to provide an integrated experience and workflow for Autodesk customers as well as better value for money. In addition to providing the rationale for the introduction of suites, the launch webcast also provided a sampling of the key enhancements in the 2012 versions of different applications, including AutoCAD and Revit. AECbytes starts off this month by capturing the highlights of Autodesk’s 2012 portfolio launch webcast from an AEC perspective.
More details about the 2012 AEC applications were provided in Autodesk’s 2nd annual AEC Technology Day that it hosted for media professionals at its AEC headquarters in Waltham earlier this month. Autodesk used this opportunity to not only share information about the new features and enhancements in its AEC product line but also about upcoming technologies it is working on as well as its strategic thinking behind what it has developed so far and what it plans to develop ahead. The feature article capturing the highlights of this event includes additional details that were shared about the 2012 building design and infrastructure applications, new initiatives such as BIM 360 and Vault Collaboration for AEC, real world examples of BIM implementation such as the iconic Shanghai Tower by Gensler and several healthcare projects by Suffolk Construction, and a look ahead at the challenges of designing future cities that was presented by HDR.
And finally, we will look at a comparative review of the latest versions of the two most commonly used electronic publishing solutions in the AEC industry, Acrobat Acrobat X and Bluebeam Revu 9, both of which were recently released.
Be sure to check out the new Research Reports section in AECbytes with its inaugural offering, the BIM Evaluation Study Report that was commissioned by the AIA Large Firm Round Table (LFRT) CEO Committee.
Thank you!
